Sunday MLB Betting Analysis

Three games could have an effect on four division races on Sunday when Tampa Bay takes on the White Sox, Florida visits Arizona, and the Dodgers face Philadelphia.
The Rays continue to hold off the Red Sox in the AL East, while the White Sox are in a back-and-forth battle for first place in the AL Central with the Minnesota Twins. In Sunday's game the Rays send Andy Sonnanstine (13-6, 4.37) to the mound, while the White Sox will go with lefty Mark Buehrle (11-10, 3.91). Sonnanstine picked up a win over the Angels in his last start after allowing three runs in 5 1-3 innings. Sonnanstine has done pretty well against Chicago this season, with a 1-0 record and a 1.84 ERA in two starts. Buehrle recorded his third straight win last time out despite giving up five runs in 5 2-3 innings against Seattle. Buehrle is 0-1 with a 5.54 ERA in two starts against Tampa Bay this season.
The Marlins are slowly but surely falling behind the Mets and the Phillies in the East, and they need to turn things around fast to stay in the race. The Diamondbacks are also desperate for every win they can get while in a tight race with the Dodgers. On Sunday the Marlins will turn to Ricky Nolasco (12-7, 3.67) and Arizona counters with Doug Davis (5-7, 4.68). Nolasco was practically unhittable in his last start, a complete-game shutout against San Francisco in which he allowed only two hits while striking out 11. Nolasco also looked good in his only start against Arizona this season in May when he allowed one run in seven strong innings. Davis pitched the Diamondbacks past San Diego in his last start, allowing two runs in six innings. This will be his first start of the season against Florida.
The Dodgers and Phillies clash in the third game of a four-game set in Philadelphia on Sunday with Hiroki Kuroda (7-9, 3.97) on the mound for Los Angeles and Joe Blanton (1-0, 4.50) getting the call for Philadelphia. Kuroda took the loss against Colorado in his last start after surrendering four runs in six innings. A week ago against the Phillies Kuroda gave up just one earned run over seven innings of work in a win. Blanton escaped with a no-decision in his last start against Washington after allowing four runs in five innings. In his only start against Los Angeles this season just over a week ago Blanton gave up four runs in five innings to receive another no-decision.
