The Barclays golf betting preview

The FedExCup playoffs get started this week at The Barclays, as the rest of the PGA Tour gets what may be their only chance to get their name on the Cup with Tiger Woods on the sidelines.
Woods is the reigning FedExCup champion, and he's even the current points leader in the Cup standings, but due to his knee injury he won't have a chance to defend his title. However, Woods isn't the defending champion of The Barclays, although the only reason that he isn't might be because he skipped the tourney last year.
With Woods out of last year's The Barclays Steve Stricker shot 16-under par to top K.J. Choi by two strokes. There will be a major difference in this year's event, though - a change in venue. For the last 40 years The Barclays has been played at Westchester Country Club, but this season it's moving to Ridgewood Country Club in New Jersey.
The favorite heading into this week's tournament at is Phil Mickelson at 9/1. Mickelson has never won The Barclays in his long career, but he did record a victory during last year's FedExCup playoffs in the Deutsche Back Championship.
Following Mickelson on the odds list is double Major winner Padraig Harrington (who also won The Barclays in 2005) at 11/1, and Sergio Garcia, a two-time champion in this event, at 14/1.
Other former winners of this tournament looking for the same luck at Ridgewood that they had at Westchester include three-time winner Vijay Singh, two-time winner Ernie Els, and reigning champ Stricker, who are all listed at 33/1 in The Barclays odds at .
