Bateman huge longshot to repeat at Buick Open

This week's stop on the PGA Tour - for both golf pros and golf bettors - is located in Grand Blanc, Michigan for the Buick Open at Warwick Hills.
The defending champion of the Buick is little-known Brian Bateman. Last year's win for Bateman was his first and only win on the PGA Tour, and he enters this year's tourney as a huge 150/1 longshot at .
The absence of two big names could be sharply felt in Michigan this week, as neither Tiger Woods nor Vijay Singh will be participating. Before Bateman's win in the Buick last season, either Woods or Singh had won at Warwick Hills in four of the previous five years.
Woods, as everyone should know by now, is out for the rest of the year with a knee injury, while Singh has decided to pass on the Buick this year.
Without Woods or Singh in this week's field, the favorite at is Jim Furyk at 10/1. Furyk won the Buick in 2003, the only year the tournament was not won by Woods or Singh during their dual reign.
Trailing Furyk on the odds list is another former winner of the Buick, Kenny Perry at 12/1. Perry won at Warwick Hills back in 2001 and has been one of the hottest golfers on the tour over the last month.
There are a number of other former winners of the Buick scheduled to return to Warwick Hills this weekend, including U.S Open runner-up and 2000 champ Rocco Mediate at 50/1, 1999 champion Tom Pernice Jr. at 30/1, 1998 champion Billy Mayfair at 100/1, 1996 champ Justin Leonard at 15/1, and 1995 champ Woody Austin at 40/1.
