Lefty leads Memorial golf betting odds

Phil Mickelson dropped in a miraculous birdie on the 18th hole in the Colonial last week. Starting Thursday, he'll head to Ohio to battle the PGA's best (minus Tiger Woods) in The Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Course.
Mickelson's final-hole heroics last week gave him a one-stroke victory over Tim Clark and Rod Pampling, who tied for second. Mickelson enters the Memorial as the tournament favorite at at 7/1, despite never winning this tournament before.
Mickelson won't have to worry about three-time Memorial champion Tiger Woods this week, as Tiger remains out after knee surgery, and three other golfers ranked in the Top 10 will also be taking a pass on the Memorial. Both Ernie Els and Adam Scott will take the week off, while Vijay Singh pulled out after suffering a rib injury last week. Els previously won the Memorial back in 2004, while Singh was the Memorial champion in 1997.
That's not to say there won't be any former Memorial champions teeing it up starting on Thursday. Reigning Memorial champ K.J. Choi is returning to Muirfield to defend his title as a 25/1 underdog at . Choi shot 17-under par last year to record a one-shot win over Ryan Moore. Moore is also scheduled to play this week and he's a 60/1 long shot at .
Other former Memorial winners among this week's field include 2006 winner Carl Pettersson (60/1), 2005 champ Bart Bryant (40/1), two-time winner from 2004 and 1991 Kenny Perry (30/1), and 2002 champ Jim Furyk (15/1).
