Mickelson best odds for Crowne Plaza Invitational

advertisement

The PGA remains a Tiger-free zone once again this week, as last season's money leaders gather in Texas for the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.

Held at the Colonial Country Club Course in Fort Worth, the Invitational was won last season by Rory Sabbatini. That event went to a three-way playoff between Sabbatini, Jim Furyk and Bernhard Langer after all three shot 14-under par. Sabbatini birdied the first playoff hole to hoist the trophy.

No golf courses have been kind to Sabbatini lately, as he hasn't posted a Top 10 result since tying for third at the Buick Invitational way back in January. Because of Sabbatini's recent struggles, he's a big underdog to repeat at at 33/1.

The favorite at - as usual when Tiger's not around - is Phil Mickelson at 9/1 odds. Mickelson has won this tournament before but that was back in 2000. Mickelson is followed on the odds list by Furyk at 12/1.

Following Furyk is Kenny Perry at 18/1, who looks like a very good dark horse pick. Not only is Perry coming off a second-place finish in last week's AT&T Classic (where he lost to Ryuji Imada in a playoff), but he's also won this event twice before in 2005 and 2003.

Other former winners of the Invitational returning to the Colonial this week include 2006 champion Tim Herron and 2004 winner Steve Flesch. Herron is a long shot to win again at at 100/1, while Flesch is locked in as a 66/1 underdog.
