Lakers lead NBA Finals series odds

Boston's Paul Pierce

The NBA Finals between the Lakers and the Celtics tips off in Boston on Thursday night and the lines and props on the series are just starting to pour in.

The oddsmakers over at have tabbed the hometown Celtics as a 2.5-point favorite in Game 1, but they see the series ending differently. The series odds at have the Lakers listed as the favorite at -190, while the Celtics check in as a +165 underdog.

That actually goes against the regular-season results, as the Celtics were 2-0 SU and ATS versus the Lakers this year. Both of those games occurred before the Lakers acquired center Pau Gasol, so the oddsmakers must believe he'll make a difference in how the Lakers will handle the Celtics this time around.

Another interesting prop bet available at is choosing which building (the Staples Center or TD Banknorth Gardens) will host the final game of the series. The Finals are played in a 2-3-2 format, with two in Boston followed by three in Los Angeles, and then two more scheduled for Boston.

Since Game 6 and 7, if necessary, would be played in Boston, TD Banknorth Gardens is favored on the prop at -165, while the Staples Center is a +135 underdog.
