Suns, Mavs, Rocks all face elimination

advertisement

It's win or go home for Dallas, Phoenix and Houston on Tuesday night, while Detroit and Philadelphia also clash with the winner of Game 5 taking control of that series.

The Mavericks fell behind 3-1 to the Hornets on Sunday night after losing Game 4 97-84 as a 5-point favorite. David West deposited 24 points and had nine rebounds for New Orleans, while Chris Paul chipped in with 16 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in the win.

Dirk Nowitzki tried to keep Dallas in the game with 22 points and 13 rebounds, but once again he received little help from Jason Kidd, who posted three points, four rebounds and three assists before getting ejected for a flagrant foul in the fourth quarter.

The Suns kept from setting on Sunday with a 105-86 win as a 3.5-point favorite in Game 4. Raja Bell and Boris Diaw both stepped up for Phoenix, as Bell had a team-high 27 points and Diaw nearly had a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.

Bell had scored only 27 points combined in the first three games of the series. The Spurs' big guns all misfired in the loss, as Tony Parker scored only 18 points, Tim Duncan had 14 points and Manu Ginobili was held to 10 points.

The Rockets appear to be headed for another first-round exit, unless they can suddenly turn things around in Game 5. Utah took Game 4, 86-82 as a 9-point favorite to take a 3-1 series lead.

Deron Williams led the Jazz with 17 points and nine assists, while Mehmet Okur and Carlos Boozer each had a double-double. Okur finished with 14 points and 18 rebounds and Boozer delivered 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Tracy McGrady led the Rockets with 23 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.

The Pistons rebounded from their loss in Game 3 with a 93-84 win on Sunday as a 5.5-point favorite. Tayshaun Prince stepped up with 23 points for Detroit, while Rasheed Wallace had 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Thaddeus Young was a surprising leading scorer for Philadelphia with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Andre Miller and Willie Green each netted 13 points.
