Favre saga affecting NFL future bets

Most football fans figured the Brett Favre saga wasn't completely over despite his teary-eyed retirement a few months ago.
Rumors of Favre's return to the NFL have been bouncing around ever since then, and they finally came to a head last week when Favre asked Green Bay for his release so that he could look for work elsewhere in the NFL.
Seeing Favre put on a uniform other than the green-and-gold would be very strange after he spent more than a decade in Green Bay. It would rank among the oddities of watching Jerry Rice as a Raider or Emmitt Smith as a Cardinal.
And no, the fact that Favre wore an Atlanta Falcons uniform years ago doesn't change anything. Favre hasn't moved on yet, though, and with the Packers currently denying his request he may not get that chance.
Packers fans clearly want Brett back after overloading local sports radio with their reaction and holding a "Bring Back Brett" rally outside Lambeau Field on Sunday.
If Favre were to resume his duties as the starting QB in Green Bay it would likely give the Packers a shot in the arm on the NFL future odds at .
With Aaron Rodgers as the starting QB the Packers are at 7/4 to repeat as the NFC North champions, and they're at 9/1 to get back to the NFC Championship Game and win it this year. Remove Rodgers from the equation and add Favre and those numbers would definitely improve.
If Favre does end up somewhere else most football pundits believe the top contenders for his services are Minnesota and Tampa Bay. The Vikings are already the favorite to win the NFC North at 7/5, and they check in at 7/1 on the NFC Championship odds at ; the Vikings could go from darkhorse to true contender with Favre at the helm.
The Buccaneers, who can never seem to have enough quarterbacks on their roster, are a 2/1 favorite to win the NFC South, but an 18/1 underdog to win the NFC this season.
