Sharks, Habs home chalk in Game 5

The Montreal Canadiens and San Jose Sharks are both in do-or-die situations this weekend, with both teams needing a win to avoid elimination from the NHL's Stanley Cup playoffs.

In San Jose, the Sharks will try to stave of elimination for the second straight game on Friday night. After falling behind in the series 3-0, the Sharks finally got on the board on Wednesday night with a 2-1 victory. Captain Patrick Marleau scored a shorthanded goal for the second straight game, while Milan Michalek scored the game-winner for San Jose.
Jere Lehtinen scored the Stars' lone goal, as Dallas was only able to direct 18 shots on net in the loss. Evgeni Nabokov was solid in nets for San Jose making 17 saves, while Marty Turco recorded 22 saves for Dallas. At home for Game 5, the Sharks are a -145 NHL playoff moneyline favorite on the NHL odds at .
The Canadiens, who finished first in the Eastern Conference during the regular season, head into Saturday's night's game down 3-1 to the Flyers after suffering a 4-2 loss on Wednesday night.
R.J. Umberger scored a pair of goals for the Flyers in the win giving him seven postseason markers already, trailing teammate Daniel Briere who potted his eighth postseason goal for Philly in the win. Also finding the back of the net for the Flyers was Scott Hartnell, while Vaclav Prospal recorded two more assists giving him 12 playoff points.
Montreal got goals from Tomas Plekanec and Saku Koivu, the same pair who scored in their 3-2 loss in Game 3. The real hero for Philadelphia once again was goaltender Martin Biron, who stopped 36-of-28 shots.
Jaroslav Halak got the start in goal for Montreal in place of struggling rookie Carey Price and he made 22 saves in the loss. It's unknown if Montreal head coach Guy Carbonneau will stick will Halak in nets for Game 5 or send Price back in with the series on the line.
