Sharks, Ranger try to extend playoff series

The Red Wings, in a surprising sweep, and Flyers, in an upset of top-seeded Montreal, have both moved on to the next round of the NHL playoffs, and the Stars and Penguins can join them there with a win on Sunday.
However, the Sharks and Rangers have other plans, even though both are NHL playoff underdogs on the road.
The Rangers avoided a sweep at the hands of the Penguins by winning Game 4 on Thursday night by a score of 3-0. Jaromir Jagr had a big game for New York with two goals and an assist, while Brandon Dubinsky recorded a goal and an assist in the win.
Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist showed why he's been a Vezina Trophy nominee for the last three years running after stopping all 29 shots he faced to earn the shutout. Thursday's loss was the first of the postseason for the Penguins, who were looking to complete their second straight series sweep after eliminating Ottawa in four straight in the opening round.
Pittsburgh's big shooters Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby were both shut out and thrown off their game with some rough play in Game 4, so much so that the pair combined to record more penalty minutes than shots on goal. Marc-Andre Fleury was solid in nets for the Pens in the loss, as he stopped 31-of-32 shots.
The Penguins are a -170 home favorite to end the series on Sunday.
The Sharks stayed alive again on Friday night with a 3-2 overtime win in Game 5. Joe Pavelski scored his fifth goal of the postseason in OT to give San Jose the victory.
Milan Michalek scored his fourth goal of the series for San Jose, and Brian Campbell potted his first goal of the playoffs. Scoring for Dallas were Jere Lehtinen and Brenden Morrow, who leads the Stars with six playoff goals.
Evgeni Nabokov had 24 saves for the Sharks, while Marty Turco stopped 19-of-22 shots for Dallas. Back at home the Stars are a -145 favorite in Sunday's game.
