Though at one point the Serie betting market was virtually closed, with Inter Milan opening up an eleven point lead, the Nerazzurri haven't been able to close out the Italian title race, and now it all goes down to the final week.
Real Madrid landed the La Liga title some weeks back, and the Champions League places were settled last week, but there is still plenty of reasons to bet on La Liga. There are UEFA Cup places at stake, and one more club will join Levante and Murcia to be relegated to the Segunda Division.
With Bayern Munich having lifted the title, the focus of Bundesliga betting heading into the final matchday of the season, is on the battle to avoid the final remaining relegation spot.
Manchester United won the Premier League title on Sunday for the 10th time in 17 seasons when they won 2-0 at Wigan Athletic and Chelsea were held 1-1 at home by Bolton Wanderers.
For the first time in the 15 year history of the English Premier League, the title race goes to the final game of the season, with two teams tied on points. After 37 matches Manchester United and Chelsea both have 84 points with one game to play, but crucially the Red Devils' hugely superior goal difference puts them in poll position to retain their Premiership crown.
Bayern Munich have closed out the online Bundesliga title for 2008, and Werder Bremen and Schalke will join them in next season's Champions League. However, the story at the bottom of the Bundesliga table is far from clear.
It may just be sour grapes but Inter Milan president, Massimo Moratti, claimed this week that Sunday's Milan Derby is bigger than the Champions League final. Certainly, this time around the stakes couldn't be higher for both clubs.
Villarreal's 1-0 win over Real Betis last Sunday robbed Real Madrid of the chance to clinch the title shortly afterwards at the Bernabeu Stadium. Bernd Schuster's Galacticos can however, gain back-to-back Primera Championships for the first time in 18 years by winning at Osasuna this weekend.
Last weekend's Premier league showdown exceeded all expectations, with drama both on and off the pitch. Chelsea's win over Man Utd brings the two sides level on points, ensuring the title race goes right down to the wire.
It would take a capitulation of mammoth proportions for the Bundesliga title to end up anywhere other than in the hands of Bayern Munich. With just four games remaining, the Bavarians have a 12 point lead and a hugely superior goal difference over second placed Werder Bremen.
