My Saturday baseball three-pack was a complete bust once again. Both of my underdog picks turned out to be pans after Toronto and Arizona failed to deliver.

Picking the Jays on Saturday proved to be a huge mistake. Dustin McGowan was destroyed by the Indians, while Cleveland starter Aaron Laffey pitched seven shutout innings in a 12-0 drubbing.

It looks like the Jays may be a solid UNDER pick whenever their starters have quality outings, because their offense is completely dead and things got even worse after Vernon Wells went down.

The Diamondbacks should have been a winner on Saturday if not for their bullpen. Rookie phenom Max Scherzer pitched much better than he did in his debut, but after he turned it over to the D-Backs' bullpen, the Cubs busted out for six runs in the seventh inning to erase Arizona's 2-1 lead.

I think I'll avoid making any bets on any Arizona games for a little while, as every time I bet on the D-Backs they lose and every time I bet against them they win.

My lone winner on Saturday was Tampa Bay over the Angels. At least Scott Kazmir started to show his old form (as I predicted) with six shutout innings, while Joe Saunders took his first loss of the season, also predicted by yours truly.

On Sunday, I cashed in when Oakland toppled the Rangers, even though Rich Harden only lasted 3 2-3 innings after getting roughed up for five runs. Thankfully Sidney Ponson was equally bad for Texas, and Emil Brown helped out for Oakland with a homer and four RBI.

It didn't pay off as well as I had hoped though, as Oakland was a -145 favorite in the win.

The Penguins also paid out as a winner in Game 2 of their NHL playoff series on Sunday night, but there was little profit there as Pittsburgh was a big -220 favorite. My futures pick of the Flyers is looking worse, unless Philly can turn things around quickly at home in Game 3.
