Bet on NFL Week 1 games now, two months before the season starts!
Lots of action on Sunday
Get your fat pants out on Sunday - there’s sports from top to bottom all day long and I’ll be parked in front of the TV to take it in. As long as my wireless signal doesn’t conk out (again) I’ll be gorging on snacks, making bets, and hopefully pulling in cash from sun-up to sundown.
The betting gets started early, with the drivers of Formula 1 starting their engines in Bahrain in the morning. Felipe Massa won last year’s Bahrain Grand Prix but I’ll be putting my cash on Kimi Raikkonen, who claimed his first checkered flag in Malaysia a couple weeks ago. Raikkonen isn’t paying jack at BodogLife at 11/10, so I’ll also lay a few bucks on Fernando Alonso at 65/1 and Giancarlo Fisichella at 500/1 in case lightning strikes.
After the checkers fly in Bahrain I’ll be keeping the remote close to flip back and forth between NBA, NHL, MLB, and a little NASCAR. I’ll also be keeping tabs on the PGA’s Shell Houston Open after laying some cash on Adam Scott and K.J. Choi earlier in the week.
In the NBA my games to watch are Golden State at New Orleans and Detroit at Miami. I’m taking the Warriors against the Hornets because Golden State bombed the Hornets 116-103 in New Orleans earlier this season and they need to win to stay in the tough Western Conference playoff race. The Pistons/Heat matchup is an interesting one because Detroit has been resting their starters recently. If they do that again Miami could cover whatever monumental underdog spread the oddsmakers give them.
On the ice the NHL closes out the regular season on Sunday with a bunch of meaningless games. At the top of the list is San Jose at Dallas. The Sharks and Stars are both headed to the playoffs and have absolutely nothing to gain from winning this game. I’d go with whoever you think has the best fourth line between the Sharks and the Stars because they’ll likely see an increase in ice time in this one.
Let’s round things up with a little baseball. I missed Johan Santana’s debut, but I’m not missing his next start on Sunday versus the Braves. This will be a solid matchup between Santana and John Smoltz, but I’m taking the Mets and the OVER on the total.
