Texas Southern, with their 15 and 15 record, has only played in two regular season games in which wagering was offered.  In the first game in which wagering was offered, the Tigers covered the spread, beating Northern Colorado 66 to 62 as 13 point underdogs.  In the second game in which wagering was offered, Texas Southern didn’t do as well, losing to Jackson State 70 to 67 as 5 point favorites.

The SEC has always been known as a football conference, but few people realize the talent level of SEC squads on the hardwood as well.

Most SEC teams have very good athletes and explosive players, which makes for exciting, up-tempo games as well as a lot of upsets in the SEC Tournament, which has produced Cinderella teams in the past.

Texas Tech Red Raiders  +17½

Kansas Jayhawks   -17½ 

The Texas Tech Red Raiders knocked off the Colorado Buffalos and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament where the Kansas Jayhawks are waiting for them.  In their previous meeting back on January 16, the Jayhawks won 89-63 but they couldn’t cover the 21½-point spread.  The game tips off Thursday at 12:30 pm EST and can be seen on ESPN. 

While the State of California’s lesser-known college athletic programs don’t get a ton of attention or fanfare across the country, many of them are capable of competing at a high level, and they also have intense rivalries with similar schools from the state.

LSU vs. Tennessee

On March 11, the Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville Tennessee plays host to the LSU Tigers and the Tennessee Volunteers in an SEC Tournament opening round matchup. Tennessee is the East’s thirds seed and LSU finished sixth in the West.  This looks like it will be one of the most mismatched games of the opening round.

On March 10, the Mountain West Conference Tournament begins in Las Vegas when the ninth seed Air Force Falcons take on the eighth seed Wyoming Cowboys tip off at 5pm EST in the Thomas Mack Center.

This game features two also-rans in the MWC, the Cowboys are 10-20 on the season and the Falcons are 9-20. It’s a shame but one of these teams will win and advance in the Mountain West Conference Tournament.

The Big Ten entered the college basketball betting season touted as one of the deepest conferences in the country. The Pac-10, not so much. The once-mighty West Coast monster watched all its pro talent jump ship to the NBA, leaving many of the Pac-10's perennial powers without the stacked rosters they're used to having. Both conferences begin their tournaments this week, and here's a look at each league:

Big Ten Tournament

With so many teams in the mix and so many talented squads on the biggest basketball stage in the world (Madison Square Garden), no NCAA Conference Tournament defines March Madness quite like the Big East does each year.

The Garden will be the site of several quality basketball games for both NCAA betting enthusiasts and fans alike this week and into the weekend, and it all kicks off tonight with quality games including Rutgers vs. Cincinnati tonight.
