The NCAA Tournament doesn't start back up until Thursday, leaving sports bettors wandering the gambling landscape in search of value.  NHL betting  is just what the doctor ordered. Tuesday has a busy schedule on the ice including a few hockey powers stumbling down the home stretch of the season.

The Flyers entered the 2009-10 hockey betting season with all sorts of hope, but they’re struggling to retain a spot in the playoffs with time running out. They believed that their free agent acquisition of Chris Pronger would bolster their blue line, but just simply hasn’t been the case. The New Jersey Devils are hoping that their recent pickup of Ilya Kovalchuk won’t yield similar results when they host the Flyers tonight.

Detroit Red Wings vs. St. Louis Blues

Over the years, this rivalry has lost some of its lustre. The Red Wings have been the team to beat in the NHL for years, while the Blues have been manning the bottom half of the Central Division for what seems like years.

But there appears to be a changing of the guard going on, with the Red Wings core group passing through their prime and a young group of Blues starting to mature and improve, the years of dominance are all but done.

New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens in action

Two of the NHL’s five worst teams take to the ice on Wednesday night in what could be winnable games. Carolina and Tampa Bay will try to gain a little respect with wins over teams that occupy Eastern Conference playoff spots.

Game 1 Preview: Toronto Maple Leafs @ Florida Panthers

Toronto continues its quest as the most disappointing team in the NHL. After blowing a 3-0 lead against Nashville on Monday, the Leafs blew a 2-0 lead against Atlanta the next night. They had the lead in their game against Tampa on Thursday, but ended up losing that one 3-2 in overtime. The Leafs are 2-11 in their last 13 road games, not a good stat when you’re in the middle of a five-game road trip.  Phil Kessel has only one goal in 2010.
