Celtics -10 faves over Cavaliers
Tuesday, May 6 2008

The final second round NBA matchup to get underway tips off on Tuesday night when the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics collide at TD Banknorth Garden.

And oddsmakers clearly think the Game 7 Celtics from the Atlanta series will show up, as installed them as 10-poit favorites in Game 1.

The Cavaliers took care of Washington in six games in the opening round. Cleveland crushed Washington 105-88 as a 2.5-point underdog in Game 6 behind 27 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists from LeBron James. Wally Szczerbiak had his best game of the postseason in the win with 26 points including six three-pointers.

The Celtics needed seven games to send the Hawks packing in the opening round. After a disappointing performance in Game 6, the Celtics stormed back in Game 7 with a 99-65 win as a 15-point favorite. Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 22 points and eight rebounds, while Kevin Garnett had 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Judging by the results from their head-to-head matchups during the regular season, this series could also be headed for seven games. Boston and Cleveland met up four times this season with each team winning twice.

The home team won every game between Cleveland and Boston during the regular season, but James missed one of those games, which Boston won easily.

Also worth noting, in those four matchups the favorite failed to cover the point spread in all of them. In Game 1 on Tuesday night, the Celtics are a 10-point home favorite on the NBA odds at online sportsbook .
