Get to the Point

By Jimmy Harris

After taking a look at the Sunday baseball schedule one game definitely stands out to me. That would be Oakland at Texas, where Sidney Ponson starts for Texas and Rich Harden returns from his latest stretch on the DL for Oakland.

Ponson has been an aberration so far for Texas with a 2-0 record and a 1.33 ERA. This is the same guy who was 2-5 with a 6.93 ERA during a brief stint with Minnesota last year. Will the real Sidney Ponson show up this weekend, or will we have to wait a little longer for him to implode?

Harden started off the season with two brilliant performances against the Red Sox before his fragile body broke down for what seems like the millionth time. In two minor league rehab starts Harden looked great, so I'll take Oakland as the underdog on Sunday.

On the ice on Sunday it's Game 2 between the Flyers and the Penguins. Pittsburgh ripped Philly 4-2 in the opener and I'm starting to worry about the futures pick of the Flyers to win the series that I made last week.

If I knew about Kimmo Timonen's ankle back then I would have taken Pittsburgh.

The Flyers couldn't keep Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby off the scoresheet in Game 1, and those two should continue to roll on Sunday. The Pens head to Philly up 2-0 and make me a little richer with a win to close out the weekend. Pitt opened as -210 moneyline chalk, but that could move downwards today.

The Flyers have also been a great OVER play in the playoffs, with 11 of their 13 games going OVER the total. Check out the stats and matchup details in the PointSpread.com hockey betting stats section.
