Get to the Point

By Jimmy Harris

It's hard to believe but the World Series of Poker begins in less than two weeks in Las Vegas. The first cards in the first event will be dealt on May 30 and the organizers aren't starting off this year's WSOP cheap, as Event No. 1 is the $10,000 Pot Limit Hold'em World Championship.

If I had $10,000 squirreled away (which I don't), I would still save it up for the Big One - the $10,000 NL Hold'em main event which is still a long way away, starting up on July 3. The main event final table is even further into the future, with their new rules moving it to November for the first time in WSOP history.

Even though the WSOP gets underway shortly, there is still time to earn my free seat in the main event over at CityPoker.com [1]. I'm taking another crack at their $12,000 WSOP prize package on Sunday.

Even though I've been cashing regularly in ring games this week, my bankroll is still short of the $215 entry to a WSOP satellite. That means it's time for Plan B once again, a $5.50 sub qualifier on Saturday. Wish me luck because the way my tournaments have been going lately, I could use some.

You can brush up poker rules and free play at CityPoker.com [2] and earn some credit towards winning bigger things.
