The hunt for the Stanley Cup resumes in Detroit on Saturday night, as the Red Wings battle the Penguins for hockey's Holy Grail.
The Red Wings open the series as a favorite to win Game 1, and as a favorite to hang their 11th Stanley Cup banner from the Joe Louis Arena rafters. The Wings are both a -165 favorite in Game 1 and in the series over at 's online sportsbook.
There's a lot more to bet on than just the game's outcome at , though. There are a ton of props available for the series, some of which include choosing the overall leader in playoff points, and the overall leader in playoff goals.
Heading into the series Henrik Zetterberg and Sidney Crosby are tied for the playoff scoring lead with 21 points apiece. On the overall playoff points prop Crosby is favored at 3/2, while Zetterberg trails him at 5/2.
The leader in playoff goals is still Johan Franzen despite the fact that he has missed the Red Wings' last five games. Franzen has 12 playoff goals, one more than Zetterberg. Franzen is expected to return to the ice at some point in the series, but he's slated to miss Game 1.
Evgeni Malkin, Marian Hossa, and Pavel Datsyuk, who all have nine playoff goals, are the prop co-favorites at at 3/1. They are followed by Zetterberg at 4/1, and Franzen at 7/1.
There are also a number of matchups where bettors must choose who will pick up more points in the series. Some of the matchups include Malkin (+105) vs. Datsyuk (-135), Nicklas Lidstrom (-160) vs. Ryan Whitney (-130), Zetterberg (-130) vs. Malkin (EVEN), and Zetterberg (-105) vs. Crosby (-125).
Another popular prop available at BodogLife is wagering on the Conn Smythe Trophy winner. Leading the Conn Smythe odds are Crosby and Chris Osgood, both at 5/2.
Also receiving high odds are Malkin and Zetterberg, both at 4/1. The only former Conn Smythe winner playing in the final is Lidstrom, but he's a 6/1 underdog to win another one.
