Federer, Roddick favored in third-round matches
Thursday, Oct 25 2007

Many matches were suspended or postponed as Wimbledon weathered more rainy weather on the weekend.

But hotty Maria Sharapova got through to the fourth round with a victory while others grumbled about the slick grass at the England Tennis Club.

BetUS.com and PinnacleSports.com each had lines posted for late Sunday and early Monday matches, which included matches between American Andy Roddick and Frenchman Mathieu Paul Henry and Roger Federer vs. Tommy Haas.

Pinnacle offered a sharper favorite line for non-American wagerers as they listed Roddick at -428 to win his match, while BetUS.com had him at -600.

BetUS.com was set to pay a whopping underdog payout to those wagering on Haas, who was listed at +1100 on the moneyline. Of course, he had the small task of actually defeating the juggernaut Swiss player to claim that prize.

In who-will-win-the-first-set wagering, Federer was a huge -1400 favorite.

On the womens side, American Venus Williams’ match against Japan’s Akiko Morigami was suspended in the second set. Williams remained -500 favorite in that match.

Justine Henin was a prohibitive -4000 favorite in her match against Patty Schnyder, who was set to +1100 if she could pull off the upset.
