Tigers roar to BCS championship
Tuesday, Jan 8 2008

LSU made it two straight wins in the BCS title game for the powerful SEC, as the Tigers rolled to a 38-24 win over the Big Ten’s Ohio State Buckeyes at the Superdome on Monday night.

The Buckeyes jumped out to an early 10-0 lead, but LSU scored 24 unanswered points before halftime to seize control of the game. The Tigers pressured Ohio State quarterback Todd Boeckman into making some poor decisions, and outside of a 65-yard touchdown run, Buckeyes running back Chris Wells was not a factor in this contest. Congratulations are due to LSU on their second BCS championship since 2003.

It is still quite early to tell who the early favorites will be for the 2008 season, but Missouri and West Virginia should be considered frontrunners as they will welcome a lot of major players back to campus in the fall, especially on offense.

Heisman winner Tim Tebow will return for Florida, and the Gators’ defense will also have another year under their belt after an inconsistent season. Georgia should also be strong again next season, as well as perennial BCS darlings USC. LSU and Ohio State will have another tough road ahead of them if they would like to reach the national championship game again next year.
