Football betting fans who have been going through withdrawal since the Super Bowl can finally get another gridiron fix this weekend when the new AFL season kicks off.
There are a few changes in the league for AFL bettors this year as some teams found new homes while another team took their ball and went home for good.
There will be 17 teams in the league this season after the Austin Wranglers moved to the AF2, the AFL’s development league, while the Nashville Kats folded and the Las Vegas Gladiators moved to Cleveland to become the oddly-named Cleveland Gladiators.
The San Jose SaberCats begin their Arena Bowl title defense on Monday when they travel to Chicago to face the Rush. San Jose won their third Arena Bowl championship last season after tackling Columbus 55-33 as a 7-point favorite.
Mark Grieb earned MVP honors for San Jose and returns as the SaberCats QB this season to try and lead San Jose to another championship.
At online sportsbook , the SaberCats aren’t favored to bring home back-to-back titles. The Dallas Desperados, who had the best record in the AFL during the regular season last year, are the Arena Bowl favorites at +400.
The SaberCats and Rush follow at +500, while the Georgia Force is listed at +550.
